Oxymore, Paris

Pizza is an easy first night dinner, when you arrive at a new holiday destination. When you’re knackered and hangry after travelling and can’t be bothered to research restaurants in your area, the best bet is to find out the pizza spots near you. This is exactly what we did on our first night in Paris. By searching ‘Pizza nearby’ on Maps, I came across this trendy spot about a 5 minute walk from our place.
Oxymore really hit the spot. The pizzas were topped with the most fresh and abundant ingredients and were the perfect balance of doughy and crisp. I had mine without cheese, obviously, but did not feel like it was lacking. The soft roasted peppers melted into the tomato base, the fresh tuna was divine, and the onion and olives added crunch and tanginess. My sister’s pizza looked the best. Piled with braseaola, fresh spinach and rocket, ricotta and chopped hazelnut, it was an absolute feast. She devoured every bit of it and claimed it was one of the best she had ever had. Although she is easy to please, I did believe her with this one.
The only obstacle we came across was with my little cousin, who didn’t realise that her pizza would be covered in blue cheese as well as the standard mozzarella. As she is a relatively unadventurous eater, this was a bit of a problem. Rightfully so, they put the names of the specific cheese on the menu rather than the type of cheese, so it is worth clarifying what cheese you are going to expect!
